Growing and Growing Up

Right now our life is consumed with me fumbling through horrendous phone conversations in Spanish in order to make appointments to look at houses that we don’t know where are and then trying to tell a taxi driver how to get to where we don’t know we’re going in Spanish.

However, for the rest of our team, life doesn’t go on hold because we just got here.  The biggest news is that last Sunday night, a week ago, we welcomed our newest team member… little Corban Thompson was born here in Lima, and so is also our first Peruvian missionary kid.  His older sister, Cailyn, got all of her daddy’s blonde hair and blue eyes… Corban’s got a full head of black hair just like his momma.

Meet Corban

Also, during our first week here, Parker had her 2nd birthday.  Our first Peruvian birthday party… first of many, since we’ll soon have 10 little kids running around that makes for plenty of parties.

What do you do when you go to a two year old’s party in a country that you can barely find your own apartment… much less a present for little girl?  Well, you just stop at a little shop on the side of the road and get a giant butterfly balloon as big as she is.  Hard to go wrong really.
