The guys on Wes’ birthday
So, yesterday was also a pretty big day for us. As Lima is still in the midst of its winter, the sun is something we rarely see. Our team (minus the Fletchers) took a much needed trip to an oasis in this desert land. We met at our house and loaded everybody up in both the Davidon’s and Thompson’s cars, and we drove to a place about thirty minutes Northeast of the city where there is a little town called Cineguilla. When you drive across the range of mountains that trap the clouds, mist, and smog hanging over the city all winter long, you find this small town located alongside a river (which looks more like a stream). Little resort areas (without hotels) are popping up everywhere. The sun shines bright, it’s warm enough to swim (if you’re brave), cool enough to not get too hot, the food is delicious, and the grass is green with plenty of room to run and play. We all had so much fun, soaking up the sun. We played on the playground, played a little ping-pong, the guys had a little two-on-two soccer game, and we all enjoyed chasing the kids around.
The white sign says roughly in Spanish, “It’s not our fault if you hurt yourself.”
When we got back home, while the kids were still conked out from playing all afternoon, Wes and I sat at the computer to search a little more for a car to buy. Back from our trip for no more than thirty minutes, we found one to look at and called about it. The owner said he would be there until 7PM if we wanted to come look at it. Justin got back in the driver’s seat and kindly took Wes over there. Anyway, long story short–we may have found a car to buy! We’ll find out for sure on Monday. We are starting to count down the days of no more taxi rides without car seats for the kids. Can’t wait!
